I thought this month, I would explain why boiler servicing is so important.

On average, your boiler is one of the most expensive appliances in your home. It is working away in the background, providing hot water in the summer, and hot water/central heating in the winter. As long as it doesn’t break down, most people rarely give it a second thought. However, when it does break down, certainly in my house, all hell breaks loose!

DAAAD, THERES NO HOT WATER” can clearly be heard the full length of our close.

Apart from the major inconvenience to wives, daughters etc, when they can’t wash the shampoo out of their hair, it’s another expense that most people could do without.

Now I’m not saying that boiler servicing will stop your boiler breaking down, but a regular service will often highlight faults that can be prevented from getting worse, for significantly less than the cost of a repair. But the most important aspect of a boiler service, is it ensures the boiler is operating safely and efficiently. I can’t emphasise this enough. Whilst the vast majority of boilers are inherently safe, it never fails to amaze me how often I get asked to service a boiler, that has not been serviced for a few years (or at all) and have to tell the homeowner that the boiler is unsafe and advise turning it off until we can make it safe. It’s not a conversation I like having, but it happens all too often.

I genuinely believe that the cost of a regular boiler service works out significantly cheaper than the ‘leave it until it breaks and then get it fixed’ approach. Plus a regular boiler service, gives you peace of mind, that your boiler is operating safely and efficiently.

As always, if you have any questions regarding boiler servicing or anything else boiler/gas-related, please feel free to contact me via email, or telephone, and I will be happy to answer them, and our advice is always free.
